montreal neighborhoods

Town of Mont Royal A Jewel Of A Neighborhood Town of Mont Royal a jewel of a neighborhood, often falls under the radar when it comes to desirable neighborhoods! This small quartier is almost a little island unto itself. This quaint town lies in the heart of central Montreal. Often referred to as TMR for short, this area is primarily residential but offers great shopping close by.  Location wise, it's super. There are good schools and plenty of green spaces and small parks. The houses, though not inexpensive, are charming with lots of character as most are not new constructions. There are...

Westmount Village Walking Tour Westmount Village Walking Tour is what I decided to do this past weekend, to take advantage of our beautiful summer day. There are several parts of Westmount which are truly wonderful which I'll cover in another post, but for now I thought I would share two short videos of what it feels like to walk in and around Westmount's Victoria Village. The homes are older but rich with character and warmth. The shops are diverse and stretch right to the heart of Sherbrooke West. The beauty is that everything is in walking distance! The florist, supermarket, vet,...

Canada's 10 Best Neighborhoods To Raise Kids Article Via Moneysense Canada's 10 Best Neighborhoods To Raise Kids includes a fantastic neighborhood called St Bruno De Montarville. In fact, according to an article by Moneysense, St Bruno ranks number #1  as one of the best places to raise kids. I recently worked with a lovely young family looking to purchase their first home. They told me about St Bruno and off we went to visit homes. It did not disappoint! I can see why the data showed that St Bruno proved to be one of Canada's best neighborhoods to raise kids. Only 30 minutes...

The one-in-six rule: can Montreal fight gentrification by banning restaurants? Interesting article by The Guardian St Henri is an up and coming, sweet little neighborhood, close to the Atwater Market. The neighborhood has many shops, cafes and restaurants that have put this neighborhood on the map. It's this wonderful diversity, especially of good eateries that has people flocking to live in this urban hotspot. But, a debate has been brewing to limit the amount of restaurants. The coolest neighbourhood in Montreal without question is Le Plateau! Every week I go to the Mile End section of Le Plateau for yoga class. I'm fortunate to be in this part of Montreal every weekend as there's always something new to discover in this neighborhood! The people and shops are so diverse and eclectic, the streets beam with so much character. Real estate wise, there are such colorful, beautiful brownstone like structures with antique architectural details. There's a fantastic creative energy that lives here, reminding me of the days I lived in Soho New York. A colleague of mine...

Photo © by Bonnie Meisels Just this week I finally had the opportunity to meetup with Judy, a fellow Texan colleague of mine.  She got wise years ago about buying property here in Montreal. The summers in Texas are brutally hot, somewhat in comparison to our winters that are often insanely cold! Thankfully, this past winter here in Montreal, was one of the mildest on record. I'm afraid to think about this winter coming up, all I can say is I hope we don't get an extremely harsh one in response to the mild one we had last year! While some...
